Lowland Moor 'mud' or peat , has been recognized for its therapeutic and soothing effects for centuries - since the times of ancient Celts and Romans.  Lowland peat - the pelloid moor peat - differs significantly from the woody and harsh highland peat. Lowland peat was formed under water in the absence of oxygen over many thousands of years. Hundreds of plant species, many of primordial origins, contributed over each century to the natural richness of the pelloid peat. Century after century, the moors endlessly replenished their contemporary flora, conserving the riches and natural goodness of all passing generations in the moist peaty layers below the crystal waters of lowland glacial lakes.
